Tribe Urban is a new and innovative media house designed to create, champion and promote the next generation of creatives. The media house believes that every year, there is an opportunity for individuals to emerge in the creative industries (entertainment, music, arts, culture, presenting) and because it has been identified that there isn’t an active hub to help them achieve this, some of the most talented people are missing out on genuine opportunities to develop these skills.
Having realised this, it was decided that a vehicle would be created to help the disadvantaged creatives cultivate and develop their skills. This led to the Media House developing and implementing a robust framework and structure for this to be delivered through the course of last year.
Having launched the radio department of the business on the 1st of January 2019, Tribe Urban will become the number one hub for promoting new & current music, revisiting old-skool music, motivating and inspiring the current and future generation and also giving upcoming artist the opportunity to finally get that break they have never had in the music industry. Other elements that will ‘plug’ into this radio engine includes; a podcast suite, marketing and promotions for shows with good interest and traffic, advertising opportunities and an engaging web platform, which will not only give target audience insights into the ins and outs of the industry but also help develop a growing generation of writers, content creators and digital developers.
Since the launch of the radio station, there have been 24 unique radio shows, which play a variety of black/ethnic minority musical genres, including Hip-Hop, R&B, Afro music, Grime and Afro-Swing and specialist strands, hosted by several upcoming DJs and presenters from all over the UK. These DJ’s and presenters are versatile and knowledgeable in their respective fields and focus on topics that the average person can relate to, from urban music to current affairs. In addition to the radio shows, the platform has also started working on the production of three podcasts, which are of a very diverse and engaging nature, which will get the crowd talking once released.
